i'm ian, i've got music in my pores—but i love reading, tinkering, and experimenting pretty holistically: a mile across, but only a few inches deep in places. you probably have got an adequate intuition for that if you're here

how'd they break the news? for me (it was in large part due to my inability to make eye contact) i was in kindergarten and they had all the kids in the class do an excercise where they laid back on the floor and put their legs up straight in the air. and whoever did it best won and got selected for a special treat with a new, never-before-seen teacher. like i'm totally fine with that as these things go to be clear. also my legs were clearly the straightest. don't rerun that exercise with everyone from the K-Class of '04 again though please. not defending my title

remember punching nazis is always the correct thing to do.

  1. thumb goes OUTSIDE your other fingers, not tucked inside

  2. punch through the thing you're trying to hit, as if it's not even there

  3. step forward with your foot on the same side as the hand you're punching with, which allows you to twist your torso into the punch and deliver more power

  4. punching a nazi is always a morally correct action!

so like, if you have to advise an audience how not to break one's thumb throwing a punch, doesn't it seem somewhat irresponsible to actively encourage that same audience to get into fistfights? like, not from an anti-violence perspective but, things can go bad real quickly and you can get hurt real bad if a punch isn't the most serious thing around.

just something to seriously think about

the oyroppese, around the influence of various gourds and the chill of winter, often become morose in their disposition, and begin conflating cats and other bystanders with a native conception passed down through oral tradition: that of a very sad person who, for one of any number of reasons, is no longer able to sleep: the gah-yuust. oyroppese understand many reactions to sadness, but most identified mythological examples of the emotion end in either self-mutilation or a rehabilitating session of sex. since most people have died, and death is viewed as a form of slumber, most gah-yuusten are dead also.

when handcoding my website i very specifically went and put terminating slashes on all the self-closing tags and then a week later read it's actively discouraged to do that and very specifically went and took them all back out. html is SO cool. it's like all the sludge and weird technical debt of the rest of tech, but objectively so much less evil
